Teach our Community to Fish
Together we can!
Together we can!
To empower Caribbean peoples to LIVEWELL in harmony with our environment.
The image of paradise of Caribbean Islands is a far cry from the reality of everyday life. There has been a steady erosion of the quality of life in the Caribbean resulting in a widening of the amount of households considered poor. Rates of non-communicable diseases is high among all income classes and among the highest in the world. The region also has the highest per capita alcohol consumption rate in Latin America & the world.
Despite the inherent vulnerability of small size and natural hazards, the Caribbean is endowed with natural resources and resilient people who have endured 400 years of enslavement and colonization.
We believe that through the work of CISIL we can access technical and financial capital to "teach our communities to fish" using our natural, human and social capital.
Formerly launched Earth Day April 22, 2009, CISIL is a non-governmental foundation funded by the Principals of JECO Caribbean Inc. The focus of the foundation is people empowerment through education, advocacy and community engagement.
